Remote Learning

Remote Learning at St Michael's

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education if restrictions ever require pupils to remain at home. We educate our children on the safe and responsible use of technology in lessons, clubs and at home.

The remote curriculum: what is taught to pupils at home

We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. However, we have needed to make some adaptations in some subjects. For example, practical activities in science may be adapted so that they can be completed at home, and in music where children would usually learn to play an instrument and receive tuition from specialist teachers provision will be adapted to allow access remotely. Read Write Inc. phonics sessions will be adapted, and the Ruth Miskin online portal will be utilised, to allow children to access high quality phonics teaching at home.
